Bulletin Reflection - St Jude Catholic Church - Pearl Mississippi - 10 November 2019 - 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Cycle C

As I am writing this reflection early in the week, I am thinking about the busy week that we just had and the busy week to come.  We here at St Jude are a busy parish.  In addition to our busy activities here at our parish, I have been to St Joseph High School this past week for mass and to the places where our parish normally does ministry: Whitfield State Hospital, Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, and Millsaps College.  As I am writing this reflection, I am getting ready for a trip to Hattiesburg for a meeting of those of us who administer our priests’ pension fund in collaboration with the Diocese of Biloxi. Also, on Thursday, I am headed to St Meinrad Seminary in Indiana for a road trip, where I will make a presentation on accounting and finance for new pastors from around the country at a workshop given for them. I will give the presentation on Friday morning, and then head back to Mississippi in the afternoon.  As we our getting ready for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas, our lives only get busier, don’t they?
I give thanks for our parish of St Jude, where there is a lot of life, energy, and joy.   In the ALPHA program this week, we discussed the ways we can evangelize and bring the Gospel to others, to be witnesses to Christ’s Good News in our words and our actions.  The ministries and activities we have at St Jude are all ways that we evangelize to the community.  We are fortunate to have a very active parish with a lot of things going on.
As I mentioned last weekend at the masses, we closed on our purchase of the house on the corner of our property which will become the new rectory where I will live.  We are excited to be able to turn the current rectory into a parish house where different groups such as the Knights of Columbus and the youth group can meet.
As we get ready to head into a very busy time in our lives with the coming of Advent and Christmas, we give thanks for the many gifts and resources we have at St Jude.  May God continue to bless us.
